Live lessons in EYFS/KS1 (pre-recorded in Year 3/4)

Talk 4 Writing

- Revision and retrieval of previous learning from last term
New fiction unit week beginning 18.01.21 (3 weeks)
- EYFS = I really want the cake by Simon Phillip
- Year 1/2 = A Chair for my Mother by Vera B Williams (settings)
- Year 3/4 = The Truth Pixie by Matt Haig (plot)
- Year 5/6 = Ghost by Jason Reynolds (dialogue)
New non-fiction unit week beginning 08.02.21 (3 weeks)
- EYFS = Instructions = How to make a chocolate cake
- Year 1/2 = Recount = The day of the fire
- Year 3/4 = Persuasion = A letter to persuade the Truth Pixie not to tell the truth
- Year 5/6 = Explanation = Why are some nations so good at sprinting?
Format for Remote Learning (live) - Talk 4 Writing (KS2)
- Retrieval from yesterday’s lesson (5 minutes)
- Teach new content (5 minutes)
- Check understanding - questioning or sentence writing (5 minutes)
- Address misconceptions (5 minutes)
- Short Independent Task - Short burst writing (5 minutes)
- Set the Independent Task for the day, highlight resources available (word banks, toolkits), set expectations for completion and uploading, take questions (5 minutes)
Format for Remote Learning (pre-recorded) Talk4Writing lessons (EYFS/KS1)
- Reminder of yesterday’s lesson
- Teach new content in small chunks e.g a sentence at a time, asking the children to pause the video and do their own sentence (DO NOT teach the content and then ask children to write the whole paragraph - remember this is NEW learning not revision of old)
- Model expectations for independent task clearly
- Set the Independent Task for the day, highlight resources available (word banks, toolkits), set expectations for completion and uploading

Monitoring Work & Live Lessons Expectations
- Contact parents daily if children have missed the live lessons to ascertain why and provide support
- Message class every morning to remind that a piece of writing and some maths work needs to be uploaded to Google classroom each day - ring parents the following afternoon if this is not done to discuss reasons and offer support
- For work uploaded - an acknowledgement will be sufficient unless specific feedback is needed to address a misconception
- TTRS/Numbots - checked weekly and phone calls if not engaging
- Accelerated Reader Quizzes - check weekly and phone calls if not engaging
