DT Curriculum

Our design technology curriculum covers four main areas of learning:

• mechanical systems

• electrical systems

• textiles

• food and nutrition

We have constructed a bespoke curriculum which includes design projects that link to wider themes that pupils are studying in other subjects. Pupils develop their knowledge and techniques of these four areas by reviewing existing products, designing their own products, making their own products and evaluating their own products. 

The knowledge and techniques build on previous learning as pupils move through the school and opportunities for knowledge and technique retrieval are built into the curriculum to ensure that pupils retain the learning in the long-term.
